项目简介

   以含粪和藻类植物残体的拉斯曼丘陵冰缘湖泊沉积物为环境载体,运用生态地质学原理和研究方法,识别出具有确定生态环境意义的元素、同位素等生物地球化学替代性指标,并利用统计学和转换函数等数理方法,高分辨率地恢复过去几千年来东南极企鹅种群数量变化和古气候环境演化等生态环境信息的历史记录。在空间上开展与西南极地区(特别是法尔兹半岛和阿德雷岛)的生态环境记录的对比研究,求证东、西南极生态、气候环境演变的关联与差异,同时在全球尺度上开展中晚全新世古气候环境记录的对比研究,为理解环南极无冰区全新世以来气候、环境和生态间的相互作用提供科学资料,从而为深入研究南极地区对全球变化的响应与反馈作用、保护南极生态环境提供科学依据。

introduction

   In this project, we used preglacial lake sediments containing penguin droppings and plant remnants in the Larsemann Hills of East Antarctica as environmental carriers, and applied eco-geology principles and methods to identify biogeochemical proxies such as elements, isotopes etc. to reconstruct past eco-environmental changes. Combined with mathematic approaches such as statistics, transfer function etc., some eco-environmental information, for example, the changes of penguin population and palaeoclimate in the East Antarctic over the past thousands of years, have been reconstructed. These results were compared with the eco-environmental records in the west Antarctic, especially in the Fildes Peninsula of west Antarctica, and the connections and differences of ecological and climatic evolutions between East and West Antarctica have been figured out. Additionally, the comparative researches at global scale have been carried out. The research results can provide scientific data for us to well understand the interactions among climate, environment and ecology during the time of Holocene in the ice-free areas. Accordingly, our data can offer scientific basis to profoundly study the response and feedback of Antarctic area to global change, and to well protect Antarctic ecology and environment.
